Fireworks In a Jar Day

Today we played with some science! Each child got a jar filled halfway with water and then with about a cm layer of oil on top. They could then drip food colourant into the jars and watch the effect that looks quite a bit like fireworks in a jar! A super fun experiment to try at home :)

Our fine motor activities for the week are threading; threading shoe laces through thread spools, beads and pipe cleaners through baskets.

Our invitation to play activity for the week is using pipes of various shapes and sizes, buckets, watering cans, funnels and water to explore what happens when you pour water into one end of a hollow tube...there are many factors at play! How high you hold the pipe, where you pour the water, how you manipulate the pipe whilst the water runs through it, how much water you use etc.

A super fun and wet activity to explore a myriad of different aspects, from gravity, cause and effect, the properties of water, directing the flow of water and teamwork.
