Nature Weaving Day

Today we did lots of outside exploring and playing!

Shasmida was being her usual, amazing self yesterday and made the kids weaving grids with sticks from the garden and wool. They then gathered lots of natural materials like leaves, grasses and sticks and the children wove them through their grid. The result was rather awesome!

Constantia and Shasmida built an obstacle course for the children with the tables, couches and pillows in the living room towards the end of the day...oodles of fun by the look of it!
Have a great weekend everyone :)

Letter Printing Day

Today we planned for the children to do letter prints with letters that appear in their name by dipping the plastic letters in paint and stamping it on the page. Alas! The kids LOVED having their hands in the paint and ended up creating a sensory painting experience instead. Well done gang!
Nadine came to do a German enrichment class with the kids and Camille (Etienne's mommy) came to help out later in the day as Shasmida attended a career expo. Thank you lovely ladies!

Light Box Sand Writing Day

This morning Shasmida put together our home-made lightbox for the kids with different magnetic letters on top for them to explore. For our activity today, we poured sand over the top of the light box and Constantia showed the kids how they can write the first letter of their name in the sand. The children then had oodles of fun drawing in the sand and watching the lights shine through the patterns they were creating. A wonderful sensory learning experience.
We gave the kids a bucket and rope today and set up an improvised pulley system from the tree-house. It is amazing how long a bucket and rope can keep little ones entertained! They would load the bucket at the bottom, pull it up and unload it at the top…hours of fun!
