Last Dino Week

Our very last Dinosaur week...It's been a blast! The tots enjoyed sensory messy play where the dino's played in fake mud made from corn starch and cocoa..we did some great Dino pre-writing activities and a super early numeracy exploration activity where the tots "excavated" Dinosaur bones (made from salt dough) and arranged them from the largest to the smallest bones on a chart. The children were stars! Lots of cutting, practising our pencil grip, pretend cooking and most importantly, fun, fun FUN!
An article on our special little school appeared in the newspaper today...you can check it out here:

Dinosaur Week 2

More fun-filled activities during our Dino exploration week..

We had a fantastic science experiment activity where the children "melted" and "hatched" dinosaur eggs made from bicarb with tubes of vinegar and a super sensory Dinosaur slime exploration tub.

For early numeracy the children measured the length and breadth of the veranda with massive dinosaur footprints and compared it to their own foot measurements. Early literacy activities included tracing the letters of our names and helping dinosaurs walk the right way on dotted lines moving from left to right.
Lots of fine-motor cutting exercises and LOADS of pretend kitchen fun! Well done explorers!
