End Of Term Tree House Picnic and Puffy Paint Art

Today was our last day of Term 1! We celebrated with a lovely tree-house picnic. I made coconut oil brownies and loaded the plate with fresh strawberries and plums and we all had a mini feast!
This morning we made a special paint mixture with self-raising flour, salt, food colourant and a tad of water. The children finger-painted with the paint and then we microwaved it to create...Puffy Art!  It undergoes a surprising transformation in the microwave; the kids loved it. After singing and dancing the children created expressive art with water and chalk on the cement.

It has been a wonderful, fun-filled term with loads of learning, expressing and exploring. Well done everyone! Looking forward to seeing you all again next term! Have a safe and wonderful holiday with your little ones :)

Salt Art Day

Today the children did some salt art! We added water to the paint and they painted freely on their sheets. While the paint was wet, we then added course sea salt to create a "crystal" effect. Fun times! Lots of playing together and exploring today.

Pom-Pom Blowing Day

Today we had fun with pom-poms! We pasted a "road" with masking tape on the cement and put a whole bunch of pom-poms in and around the road. It was a great sorting activity, placing all the pom-poms inside the lines. The children then blew the pom-poms along the lines...a great exercise in breath control and keeping them inside the lines! The pom-poms are so light that they roll along at the slightest breeze. The kids loved it.
We explored different textures, played with shapes and had lots of fun outside!

Felting Pebble Day

Another great day of exploring! Today we tried our hands at felting rocks...we wrapped smooth pebbles in yarn and the kids rubbed them in warm, soapy water. Unfortunately it seems that the wool I got wasn't the right type! It is supposed to form a warm, fluffy blanket around the stone...like when you accidentally put your favourite woolen sweater in the washing machine on the "hot" setting. :) Our wool-wrapped pebbles remained wool-wrapped pebbles...but the kids loved the activity non the less!
