This morning Harry and I walked around the
house and collected sticks, leaves, pieces of bark, pebbles etc. The children
each received a ball of earth clay and could spend their time playing,
manipulating and creating, adding sticks, stones and leaves for effect and
texture exploration! The kiddos also foraged in the sensory garden and collected
leaves and flowers to add to their masterpieces. They could also add water to
the clay, making it deliciously slippery and completely changing the tactile
sensation of it.
Constantia and Shasmida played with the
children and helped them “build” the first letter of their name. A wonderful,
tactile way to explore the shape of a letter that uses the whole brain. The
children were fantastic in their explorations and creations!
Shasmida built us a water exploration wall
over the weekend and the children could explore the effects of gravity, direction
etc by pouring water through the different pipes and containers and watching nature
take its course…Super fun!
For a fine motor activity, we are threading
cheerios onto spaghetti this week…always a winner with the kids!
It is so lovely to have all our little
friends back! Looking forward to an exciting term with you all!
