We pulled out our sensory water beads today and let the children have a good old play with the frogs and swamp creatures in the beads. We then arranged glasses next to each other and let the children colour sort the beads into the glasses. It is a lovely sensory experience to squish those little beads between little fingers! The children investigated the glasses and we encouraged them to talk about them; “this one has MORE than this one” “This one is FULLER” than that one” “There are LESS purple beads than white beads” etc. This hones a fundamental understanding of volume and the vocabulary that describes the “state” of the volume.
Eleanor came to do a kindermusik class with the kids…looks like a feast of a time!
We counted pebbles with our “hopping frog” game, played with water and sand and had a great time cutting papers!
