We have a super fun week planned, with exciting new exploratory, fine motor, sensory and art activities.
Over the weekend we cut and played with
some of our boxes (a big plus at having recently moved is that we have loads of
boxes in the garage!) and arranged them in a long train…some have windows, some
have doors, some have flaps and some are, just, well... plain old boxes! The
children LOVE the boxes…(I don’t know what it is with kids and boxes, but there
certainly is a special chemistry happening there!) A super catalyst for
imaginative and exploration play. Harry loves pushing objects into or through
the boxes and then following them himself. Etienne pretended his box was his
house and it was his all-time favourite place to hang out today. Toinee just had a blast hiding out in her little box cave!
We also made our very own light box to explore colours and shapes. I'll let the pictures tell the story of our light box explorations...
Our Fine motor activity for the week is
threading cheerios onto spaghetti. We used our homemade play dough to secure
three spaghetti strands and then the kids could thread (and sample... yummy!) the
cheerios onto the strands. A super fine-motor activity that is fun but also
demands a decent amount of concentration.
Our outdoor exploration activity this week
is “hanging the washing” on a washing line with pegs. The kids LOVED hanging up and
taking down the washing. A great play
activity that needs concentration, coordination, fine-motor skills and a dollop
of imagination! Christian had oodles of fun pretending that he is helping mum with the laundry! ;)
Box fun!
Fine motor activity...Hanging up and taking down washing!
Our Art activity today was sponging with
paints…the kids did a great job creating art works with their sponges…Well done
gang!
