Looks like our internet is back on track!
Yesterday the children had a blast exploring a pulley system that we installed by the tree house. They hoisted up a recycled coconut oil bucket filled with beans and dried corn and were fascinated at how the pulley device and gravity work together to perform such a fun and large action.
We made a hole at the bottom of the bucket and the beans streamed out as they hoisted the bucket up. The children were delighted! They had showers under the beans, caught it with different sized containers and poured it back into the top...I absolutely love the look of wonder and joy on their faces as they played with it!
They pulley system is the children's first introduction to a simple machine that makes tasks a whole lot easier and teaches them about basic scientific principals such as applied force, lifting loads, transmitting power and gravity. All of this in the context of PLAY...they do not even realise that they are learning, they are just having tremendous fun!
