Hallo dear Parents and Grandparents! I finally have a new computer, (my other one got stolen last week!) so doing the blog is a piece of cake again! What a relief ;)
As you have probably noticed by now, our focus this term is on recognising our names and recognising different shapes. The children are doing a great job of it thus far!
Today they used butter knives to cut along the dotted lines on a polystyrene tray to reveal a circle, a triangle and a square. Constantia and Shasmida pasted cellophane at the back of the trays and once the shapes were cut out, they revealed a lovely sun-catcher! I am amazed at how good the kids have become at complex fine-motor activities such as wielding a butter knife...well done gang!
For fine motor this week the children are looking at the different sequencing of beads. They follow a little colour chart and string the beads accordingly. This is an excellent numeracy and early literacy skill to master.
Shasmida made us a scenery box last term, complete with roads, animals and buildings. The children seemed to enjoy it all over again today, driving their cars and building little towers in their box town.
Our mud pie kitchen is still a hit...we need some more pots and pans, whisks, wooden spoons and muffin trays please mums! If there are any unused kitchen utensils lying around, we would appreciate them muchly ;)
