Swimming Day

Following on from our lovely sense explorations the last few weeks, we are looking at using our senses to discriminate  and discern between opposites like hot and cold, sweet and salty, big and small, heavy and light, and long and short. We designed our rotation stations this week to stimulate all these areas and for the tots to explore them in depths.

Free choice rotation station this week:

A sugar and salt tasting station to discern between sugary and salty taste. 

A milk testing and tasting station where the children can have fun sampling different flavours for milk (Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry) getting blindfolded and seeing if they can identify the flavours by taste.

A hot and cold water play table where we experiment with ice water, warm water and the teachers doing an experiment of melting  ice with hot water.

A big and small station where tots can sort objects into a big and small category.

A long and short sorting station using straws...
